Ok- maybe this could be a  project for youngsters if you have seeds- given that vegetable costs are going through the roof here because of the Gippsland floods- we encourage youngsters to help out at home by making a small garden- even a pot garden in which to grow some things-  water conservation will be a by-line-  we can get them to do those upside soft drink bottle trick for watering, so it won’t need daily watering- tom thumb tomatoes are great- lettuce too. Zucchinis, cucumbers, herbs are always great- we can even get them involved in recipes to use the food they grow- simple things- and we could make it into a booklet- that they could print at school as a “Christmas” gift to the family- I am not thinking a big booklet- but one with some gardening tips for small gardens and recipes- that the kids could  do themselves called ‘The Magic of a Vegie Garden or some such thing- they could suggest a title- so it would be their gardening book- anyway it’s an idea.
